Welcome to my Blog!!

Hello all!!! My name is Nisi Williams, thanks for taking a peak into my world! This blog will mainly be about my witty, outspoken extremely animated and talented eight year old daughter named Sinae’. She is definitely a “Mommy’s girl” as she enjoys our “mommy and daughter” times the most. Sinae’ also enjoys anything that has to do with art. At the age of three she started take art lessons at the Philadelphia Museum of Art and continues to paint today. Her busy Saturday includes Ballet, Jazz/Tap, and Ballroom (that alternate Salsa, The Waltz and Traditional Ballroom) classes. During the summer when she doesn’t have modeling classes, she enjoys spending her time with her cousin Jasmine. As you can see she is a pretty well rounded young lady. She has a friendly personality and never has a problem “fitting in” with any group of children.

New Do!

Odunde is a big event in my household! I always love events where black people can come together and not have to worry about no craziness going down. I’ve never had a bad experience at Odunde! The performances, the vendors, everything is just awesome! Before I went natural I would go and be so envious as I looked at all of the beautiful tresses. Locs, fros, twists, cornrows….even the headwraps were beautiful. Each year that I’ve gone to Odunde, I’ve always left feeling beautiful, confident, encouraged and simply joyous! This year was my daughter’s first year in attendance, and other than her complaints about the heat, she enjoyed herself. She received SO many compliments on her hair and at least four women stopped her, looked her dead in the eye and told her that she better not EVER get a relaxer! I was happy that someone else told her not to get a relaxer, children don’t believe a word out their mother’s mouth.

Anyway, for her style I used Ms. Jessie’s curling pudding. I think I’m a customer again. The first time I used it I didn’t like it….AT ALL! I paid almost $50.00 for the container and it left my hair soooo dry. Then I looked up a few blogs and a lot of people were having this same issue. They suggested that I buy another product to use with it. Uhm, I’m not paying $50.00 for a product that needs other products to make it work! Ok, enough of my rant….I heard that they changed their product and that it didn’t leave your hair dry. AND they had a smaller container for $22.00! NOW we can work it out!!
I washed her hair with Paul Mitchell’s Cleansing shampoo ( I do this once a month since I use a lot of product in her hair), followed up with Nexxus Botanical Shampoo, Deep conditioned with Motions CPR.

I used a wide tooth comb to detangle her hair. Trust me…detangling is SO necessary with natural hair! Then I sectioned her hair into four ponytails. Next, I sprayed her hair with a mixture of water, herbal essence “hello hydration” conditioner and setting lotion. I then separated her hair with my fingers (NO PARTS) and used a dab of Miss Jessie’s and Jojoba oil to seal the ends as I two-strand twisted her hair. Once all of the hair has been twisted, I used rolled her hair with rods. I only rolled it 2-3 times not all the way to the scalp. Wrapped it with a satin scarf and off to bed she went!

You can either wear this style twisted with little curls on the end or separate them for a fuller look.

When separating the hair, make sure that you have enough oil on your hands and fingertips to avoid frizziness.
